The fund may invest in stocks of companies of any market capitalization. The funds portfolio is typically constructed in a bottom up manner, an approach that focuses more on evaluations of individual stocks than on analysis of overall economic trends and market cycles. Sector allocations are largely the result of the funds focus on stock selection. At times, the fund may have a significant portion of its assets invested in the same economic sector. Additionally, the fund implements a covered call option writing strategy to generate cash flows in addition to the dividends received through the funds investment in equities. The covered call option writing strategy seeks to generate cash flow by selling call option contracts on the common stocks held in the funds portfolio with targeted expiration dates of approximately one to two months into the future. The amount of cash flow generated by the covered call option writing strategy will be dependent on market prices and the volatility of the underlying common stocks at the time of each sale. The fund may use a variety of derivatives, such as futures, forwards, options, structured securities, and swaps for a number of purposes, such as for hedging risk or managing certain exposure. In addition to options, the fund uses index futures to manage risk, as necessary. An index future is a contract that provides for the future delivery of a cash amount based on the index value. The fund may engage in cash settlement or offset the transaction.
