Under normal circumstances, the Portfolio invests at least 80% of its assets (net assets plus any borrowings made for investment purposes) in one or more underlying exchange-traded funds (ETFs). In pursuing its investment objective, the Portfolio normally obtains exposure to equity securities (and certain other instruments described below) in an amount equal to 60% of its assets and exposure to fixed income securities in an amount equal to 40% of its assets. Under normal circumstances, the Portfolio invests primarily in ETFs managed by the subadviser or an affiliate of the subadviser in different combinations and weightings. The risks discussed in this prospectus may also be applicable to the ETFs in which the Portfolio invests. In general, the Portfolio invests in three different kinds of underlying funds: those that invest primarily in equity securities or certain other instruments described below (referred to as equity funds), those that invest primarily in fixed income securities (referred to as fixed income funds), and those that invest in a mix of securities and other instruments in which equity funds and fixed income funds invest (referred to as multi-asset funds). Equity funds may include funds that invest in, among other things, domestic and international equities (including emerging market equities), real estate-related securities or instruments and commodity-related securities or instruments. Fixed income funds may include funds that invest in, among other things, domestic and non-US bonds, US Government securities, mortgage-backed securities, high yield (or junk) bonds, and cash or money market instruments. Multi-asset funds may include funds that invest in any of the securities or instruments in which equity funds or fixed income funds may invest. Investments by the underlying funds may include investment grade and non-investment grade securities backed by mortgages or other assets and would be subject to the limitations of the underlying funds. Variations in the target asset allocation between equity and fixed income securities, through investments in underlying funds, are permitted up to 5%. Therefore, based on a target equity/fixed income allocation of 60%/40%, the Portfolio may have an equity/fixed income allocation that ranges from 65%/35% to 55%/45%. The subadviser may also invest the Portfolios assets in (i) derivative instruments including, but not limited to, swaps, forwards, index futures, other futures contracts, and options thereon to provide liquid exposure to the applicable equity and fixed income benchmark indices; and (ii) cash, money market equivalents, short-term debt instruments, money market funds, and short-term debt funds to satisfy all applicable margin requirements for the futures contracts and to provide additional portfolio liquidity to satisfy large-scale redemptions.
